New Zealand Rugby’s vision is to Inspire and Unify New Zealanders through a world-leading game. We are now seeking an outstanding National Pathways Head Coach to lead the development of our next generation of elite players.
About the Role
This is a pivotal role in our High Performance system, with responsibility for the New Zealand Under 20 and New Zealand Schools teams, ensuring high-potential players are identified, developed, and successfully transitioned into professional and international rugby.
Reporting to the High Performance Player Development Manager, you will lead coaching across our pathway programmes, aligning player development with the All Blacks and wider National Team system.
You will:
• Lead coaching and performance delivery for NZ U20 and NZ Schools
• Drive alignment of playing style, standards, and performance standards across the development system
• Build strong relationships with Super Rugby clubs, Provincial Unions, schools, and academies
• Lead the pathway coaching and management teams
• Contribute to national talent identification and long-term player development strategy
About You:
• Proven experience as a Head Coach or Senior Assistant at an elite or professional level
• Demonstrated success in developing young players for elite progression
• Strong technical and tactical knowledge of modern rugby
• Experience delivering within a high-performance multidisciplinary environment
• Outstanding leadership, communication and relationship management capability
Desirable:
• International coaching experience
• Experience with high-performance talent identification systems
