NZ Sevens Team Doctor
Be Part of a Champion Team – Doctor Role with NZ Sevens
New Zealand Rugby (NZR), one of the country’s leading sporting organisations, is offering a unique opportunity to work alongside some of the world’s most successful rugby athletes. We’re on the lookout for a qualified and experienced Medical Doctor to join our high-performance team supporting the All Blacks Sevens and the back-to-back Olympic gold medal-winning Black Ferns Sevens.
This role is based at the Adams Centre for High Performance in Mount Maunganui — the training hub for New Zealand’s elite Sevens athletes. You’ll be part of a dynamic, professional environment where excellence is the standard, and your expertise will directly contribute to our teams’ continued success on the global stage.
Why This Role Matters
The Black Ferns Sevens are one of the most dominant teams in women’s sport, having claimed Olympic gold in both Tokyo 2020 and Paris 2024. Supporting this world-leading team — alongside the All Blacks Sevens — means working with some of the best athletes and staff in international rugby.
Who We’re Looking For
You’ll be a registered Medical Doctor with a strong background in high-performance sport. Ideally, you’ll also have a post-graduate qualification in sports medicine or a related discipline.
Your skill set includes:
• Proven experience delivering medical care in elite sporting environments
• A deep understanding of athlete health, performance, and recovery
• Outstanding organisational, communication, and interpersonal skills
• A genuine connection to our Teams in Black and the values of New Zealand Rugby – Te Ara Rangatira, The Rugby Way
• The drive to contribute meaningfully to a team striving for gold
A strong knowledge of rugby and the unique demands of Sevens rugby is a bonus.
What You’ll Need:
• Registration and a current Annual Practising Certificate (APC) with the Medical Council of New Zealand (MCNZ)
• A clear Ministry of Justice Criminal Convictions check
• Legal entitlement to work in New Zealand
