About the role
New Zealand Rugby (NZR) is looking for a Head of Finance Business Partnering to lead our business partnering function, driving financial insight, leadership, and accountability across the organisation.
This role plays a pivotal part in shaping NZR’s future – from supporting stakeholder negotiations and exciting projects to building financial sustainability. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, you’ll lead a talented team of Finance Business Partners and Management Accountants, equipping them and our Leaders with the tools, insights, and support needed to make smart, strategic decisions.
What you’ll do:
- Lead and inspire a high performing team, building capability and fostering a culture of collaboration and excellence.
- Partner with leaders across the business to deliver high-quality advice on budgeting, forecasting, and investment opportunities.
- Play a key role in major projects, negotiations, and long-term financial planning.
- Champion innovation, continuous improvement, and financial literacy across NZR.
What you’ll bring:
- Chartered Accountant (CA ANZ or equivalent), with a tertiary qualification in accounting, finance, or related field.
- 10+ years’ post qualification experience, including leadership in finance and business partnering.
- Proven success influencing at Executive and Board level.
- Strong track record in financial planning, analysis, and commercial decision-making in complex environments.
- Excellent communication and relationship building skills, with the ability to engage and challenge constructively.
